Overview
The Wake Train project is designed to enhance the experience of train passengers who risk missing their stop due to napping. This UX case study focuses on developing a user-friendly solution that alerts passengers just before their station arrives.
Created as practice for a whiteboard UX design exercise, this project emphasizes problem-solving skills, structured thinking, and effective design solutions. The process includes user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design development, culminating in a comprehensive UX case study for my portfolio.
Key Features
Stop Alert System – Notifies passengers before reaching their destination.
Simple Code Input – Users can manually enter a train code to track destinations and stops.
User-Friendly Interface – Designed for easy navigation, even for non-tech-savvy users.
Smart Notifications – Alerts are effective yet non-intrusive.
Validated Through UX Research – Features tested and refined based on user feedback.
Mission
Wake Train aims to prevent passengers from missing their stops by offering a seamless and intuitive wake-up system. By focusing on usability, accessibility, and problem-solving, this project provides a practical, real-world solution while refining my UX design skills.
Challenges Faced
Understanding User Needs – Conducting research to identify the pain points of passengers who fall asleep during transit.
Designing an Intuitive Interface – Ensuring a simple, accessible UI for users to input train codes and track stops.
User Journey Complexity – Streamlining the process from code entry to stop alerts while maintaining clarity.
Incorporating Notifications – Developing an effective yet non-disruptive alert system.
Iterating on Feedback – Continuously refining wireframes and prototypes based on user testing and stakeholder insights.
