Challenge
Creating Catfeine Café meant balancing playfulness and usability while delivering a fully responsive, cross-device experience. Most existing café or adoption platforms were functional but lacked visual appeal, clarity, and scalability, making navigation confusing and limiting engagement. On top of that, I had to develop a cohesive brand identity and logo concept that reflected the café’s charm and playfulness, ensuring the platform felt welcoming and memorable while remaining practical and accessible to diverse users.
Results
The final platform provides a visually engaging and intuitive experience, allowing visitors to explore adorable cat profiles and access detailed adoption information. Interactive elements, such as cat illustrations and playful UI components, encourage engagement and create an emotional connection with the café’s theme. The cohesive branding and custom logo reinforce memorability and convey the café’s friendly, charming personality.
Process
Research & Planning
I analyzed similar café and adoption platforms to understand common pain points in booking flows and content presentation. I noticed that most sites lacked clarity and cross-device scalability and while they were functionally sufficient, they were often visually unappealing. The target included couples and families interested in both café experiences and cat adoption.
User Flow & Information Architecture
I structured the platform to create a clear and intuitive navigation, guiding users seamlessly from discovery to booking and cat exploration. The flows were designed to minimize cognitive load, making it easy to explore cat profiles, and access adoption information. Accessibility considerations, such as readable typography, color contrast and simplified interactions, were embedded throughout to support diverse users.
Feature Prioritization
Core features such as the table reservation system, interactive cat profiles, and adoption information were prioritized to ensure they fit naturally into the flow without overwhelming users.
Branding & Logo Concept
The brand concept Catfeine Café, combines “cat” and “caffeine” and the the logo represents a playful illustration of a cat holding a coffee cup to reinforce the café’s identity and friendly personality. This branding decision was central to creating a cohesive and memorable experience that emotionally connects users to the platform.
Visual Design & Style Guide
The Design prioritizes clarity and approachability with a clean layout, balanced spacing and accessible typography.
UI components were designed to scale across different pages while maintaining consistency.
Special attention was given to contrast, readability, and inclusive design patterns to support users with different needs and preferences.
Conclusion
Catfeine Café showcases how a user-centered design approach can combine functionality, visual storytelling, and playful branding to create a memorable digital experience. By focusing on intuitive navigation, engaging cat profiles, and a cohesive visual identity with a custom logo, the platform balances charm and usability. The project highlights my ability to integrate UX/UI design, responsive development, and illustration, resulting in a platform that delights users, supports engagement, and communicates the café’s personality effectively.
